Hello Friends and Family:
Jim and I are getting ready for the big expedition which starts on Tuesday, September 6th. We cannot believe the summer has passed already. The last few weeks have been very hectic. We did a short outing in August to trial run the camping experience in the Enclave we got in July to make sure we had all our bases covered. We can get everything into the back of the Enclave with all the seats folded down but it has to be packed a very specific way. Those of you who understand what I do for a "living" will not be surprised to note that I documented that method with photos. (A picture IS worth a thousand words.)
A friend of mine who checked out this site a couple of days ago said she was confused by the Spetember 2010 date at the top of the blog. Yes, I really did start posting that early but thought I should update the site to prevent the same confusion for others.
The photo you see above is an endzone view of Lambeau Field in Green Bay (aka Mecca). While on the trip to Wisconsin in August for a niece's wedding (hi Natalie and Scott!) we made a side trip to Green Bay since Jim has (gasp) NEVER BEEN THERE! We took the Stadium Tour and saw the Hall of Fame and, of course, the enormous Pro Shop. Jim has never been shopping for that long continuously since I've know him! Incredibly, he did not buy a thing. I think he was overwhelmed. Plus he already has most of the things there. Anyway, we thought you would like to see the stadium. We both now have an enormous new respect for the players who do the Lambeau Leap after a touchdown. That wall is really high!
Below is a shot of the 4 Lombardi Trophies the Packers have won over the years. WOOOHOOOOO!
So welcome everyone as we travel east over the next few weeks. We'll let you know what signs we see of Hurricane Irene's aftermath - especially in Vermont (assuming it's still there) and post shots of some of the wonderful sights we expect to see.
Mattie and Jim
