New Expedition Planned for 2011!

This is the blog site for Mattie and Jim's next expedition starting in September 2011.  I chose the photo at left for this blog because it represents our excitement and anticipation about the upcoming trip which covers the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and the whole length of the Blueridge Parkway (and the two National Parks on either end).  There are visits planned to several National Parks, Forests, and Monuments plus many historical sites and Wildlife Refuges.  We have even built in a whale watching trip out of Massachusettes near Boston. 

We can't believe that four years have passed since our last expedition.  We had a fantastic time and learned a  lot - first about the amazing country we live in and second about how to plan and prepare for such a trip.  We leave Fort Wayne September 6th and end at our place in Florida on October 12.  We still plan to camp part of the time using KOA Kamping Kabins (their spelling - not mine).  We hope you will join us again as we explore another part of this beautiful country.  And as always, we welcome your comments and suggestions for places to visit. 

PS - look at the photo above again.  The two guys in the front of the raft are looking back at one of their friends who was thrown out while traversing some rapids.  The guy with the oar raised either does not yet know this or is very happy about it.  If you double click on the photo, you will see a larger image.
